Processors will be setting April milk prices in the coming week, the first being Lakeland on Friday, followed by Glanbia on Monday.

Processors covering the northern half of the island will feel the pressure to avoid making price cuts as a potential deal with LacPatrick is still on the table.

IFA dairy chair Tom Phelan has written to the co-ops urging them to support milk prices.

However, the ICMSA said: “It’s better for support to be shown through maintaining milk price than by support packages or other discretionary payments.”
