The organic market in the UK, in value terms, grew by 6% last year, according to the Soil Association’s 2018 Organic Report which was released on Wednesday this week.

The market is currently worth £2.2 billion, after six consecutive years of growth now accounting for 1.5% of the UK’s food and drink market.

Clare McDermott, Business Development Director at Soil Association Certification, claimed that the growth was because consumers now “understand what organic really means – both for health and for the environment” as well as an increase in public perception and knowing where their food comes from.
