Talks scheduled for today between Boortmalt and growers’ representatives have been postponed again and will now take place next Monday 20 March.

It is understood the reason is to allow other talks to take place, presumably those between Boortmalt and Diageo, its main customer for Irish malt.

Growers will be hoping to plant this week and it is assumed that by the time of the planned talks next week, Boortmalt will have completed the renewal of an agreement with Diageo.

Separately, the IFA malting barley committee is due to meet on Tuesday night.
