Monday

Rain and drizzle is forecast to quickly move into Atlantic areas on Monday morning, with some heavy falls across the west and northwest.

Met Éireann said that the rain and drizzle will extend to many other areas during the afternoon. Parts of southeast Munster and south Leinster will however stay dry till later, at which point a clearance will develop across the northwest.

It will become breezy with freshening southerly winds and highest temperatures will range between 15°C to 18°C.

On Monday night the rain will be widespread for a time before a clearance, developing in the north, makes its way southwards by morning. Lowest temperatures on Monday night will vary between 10°C or 11°C with moderate southwest winds.

Tuesday

Tuesday will start out dry but yet another spell of rain is forecast, this time to affect southern counties by afternoon, and turning heavy at times, before pushing northwards later.

On Tuesday there will be highest temperatures of 13°C or 14°C in the north and northwest to 15°C or 16°C in the south and southeast.

Wednesday

Wednesday is forecast to be mostly dry with sunny spells and light southwest to west winds. There will be little change in temperature although Wednesday night looks set to be a colder night under clearing skies with westerly winds.

Thursday

It will be mostly dry for Thursday too with just isolated showers, according to Met Éireann.

The westerly winds will continue through the rest of the week, the latest weather charts show, with the unsettled spell persisting.

Farming forecast

Soil moisture deficits remain high in central, eastern and southern parts of the country, generally between 40mm and 55mm, Met Éireann data shows, with a slow improvement in the situation in the coming days.

Elsewhere soil moisture deficits range from 0mm in parts of the northwest to 30mm in parts of the midwest.

There will be variable drying conditions this week but conditions will be mostly poor and there will also be limited opportunities for spraying.
