Over €300/t has been offered this week for green feed barley for next harvest by Glanbia and Dairygold.
Supply pressures in grain and feed markets are continuing to drive prices higher. Prices are up roughly 50% on last year’s basic harvest price. This is indicative of the continuing pressures in feed markets.
The two co-ops also offered €310/t and €315/t, respectively, for green feed wheat earlier this week and prices have strengthened further since then.

These forward prices equate to around €350/t and €360/t for dry barley and wheat, respectively, for harvest.
These compare with spot prices today of around €430/t and €420/t, respectively, making further price movement possible.
