Met Éireann has issued an advisory status yellow weather snow warning for the St Patrick’s bank holiday weekend.

The warning was issued for Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan came into effect on Friday morning at 9am and is valid until Sunday night.

The weather system, which has been dubbed "Son of the Beast", is not expected to be as severe as the extreme winter storms which hit Ireland earlier in the month.

However, it will be seen as a massive nuisance to farmers and rural communities who are still counting the cost of the heavy snow which did millions of euro worth of damage to property and livestock and severely disrupted daily life effected areas, especially in the southeast of the country.
